For MacDade-Darby Development, LLP, Remington, now Avison Young, oversaw development and construction of a retail town center along MacDade Boulevard in Darby, Pa. The 42,000 square foot Darby Town Center at 150 South MacDade Boulevard includes a Save-A-Lot supermarket as its anchor tenant. Five other tenants complete the complex.
The Darby Town Center development is a significant community revitalization project, housing the community’s only grocery store on a site that was abandoned for several decades. The retail center also brought 200 temporary construction jobs and 185 new, permanent jobs to the area. As such, the project received $4.25 million in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grants, as well as federal new market tax credits.
Remington Group, now Avison Young, oversaw all aspects of this development, from financing through close-out.

In the planning stage alone, we managed to cut costs by $500K by recommending an alternative foundation system. We completed the Save-A-Lot in 200 calendar days. Despite the fact that the site flooded two months prior to completion, the schedule never changed and the project was completed on time.
