The Performance Garage is a dance studio that is committed to supporting the professional dance and performing arts communities by providing access to its rehearsal space and theater as an incubator for classes, rehearsals, workshops and productions. A façade restoration in 2001 initiated the transformation of this historic building complex. In 2016, Phase one of a new capital project commenced and concluded with the direction of Avison Young. Phase one renovations included an upgraded HVAC system, updated performance floor and ceiling, as well as an upgraded technical/sound room. Phase two includes renovating the second floor into apartments for rental income to sustain the organization. The work is partially funded by a Cultural Corridor and Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) Grants.
Avison Young oversaw this project from concept through close-out.
